Striated Caracara (Phalcoboenus australis).
Known locally as Johnny Rooks, these curious birds of prey predominantly breed on the outer and uninhabited islands of the Falklands and are rarely seen on East Falkland. An estimated 600 pairs breed in the Falkland Islands but it is believed that only 1 in 20 juveniles survive to adulthood.
IUCN CONSERVATION STATUS: Near threatened.
